An ezine is a periodic publication distributed via email, but some are in the form of blogs, and some are on web pages (webzines). Normally, ezines are subscription based meaning they are sent to people who expressly ask for them. In almost all cases, the subscriber of the ezine receives an email either containing the ezine or a notice that the ezine has been posted. Ezines in concept are reworking of the popular magazine format of monthly, or weekly topical publications, in an electronic format. Ezines are typically tightly focused on a subject area and their subscribers are highly targeted audiences with interest in specific topics.

Ezines are also called newsletters.
