Online tutoting is gaining popularity. An online tutor teaches a specific educational subject or skill to an individual student mostly on a one-on-one basis. Online tutors may be directly hired by the student, the student's family or through an agency. Many online tutorials are used for remedial students or others needing special attention; many provide more advanced material for exceptionally capable and highly motivated students.
Tutoring may be provided online over the Internet. Benefits of online tutoring include flexibility in schedule, the emphasis on written communications and skills, accessibility to advanced and specialized classes. However, with the number of online-tutoring programs increasing rapidly, educators are concerned that many online courses may fail to provide valid educational experiences. Students must be sure to fully research any online tutoring program before signing on. Participating in a weak program will only lead to a waste of time, effort, and money.
